Vote in the Children’s Mandate for Peace

The UNICEF Colombia website has updates on work for children’s rights in Colombia, including the progress of the Children’s Movement for Peace.  The site gives results of the Children’s Mandate of 1996 and an opportunity to vote today on the same rights.

Soldiers of Peace : A Children’s Crusade

A powerful documentary about the Children’s Movement featuring Juan Elias, Farlis, Mayerly and Wilfrido, whose stories are also told in “Out of War.” The film, produced by Kathy Eldon and directed by Kyra Thompson was screened on the domestic and international channels of CNN.  Copies of the film are available for non-broadcast and educational purposes. Children’s Peace Fund

Many of the young people who participate in the Children’s Movement come from families that are poor. The Children’s Peace Fund was established to help young people who have been leaders of the Children’s Movement for Peace by contributing funds for higher education.  The Children’s Peace Fund helped Juan Elias and his family escape from Colombia after they faced relentless intimidation and threats. It is currently assisting Farlis, Mayerly, Wilfrido and Johemir with education costs.  Learn more and make a contribution.
